As one of our final Wednesday class trips, we made our way to Perugia, Italy, mostly so our Professor could show us the one thing it is most known for: its designed minimetro. You may ask, "What is a minimetro, and why is it not like a regular metro?". Let me set the record straight with these clarifications:
1.) there is only one car used in a minimetro, not a series of cars
2.) a minimetro has no driver, unlike many of underground metros throughout Europe
3.) A MINIMETRO LOOKS LIKE SOMETHING OUT OF PIXAR AND IS THE COOLEST MOST BIZARRE THING I'VE SEEN!
You may not believe me, but see for yourself.

It is actually quite cool, because the town of Perugia was built with so many twists and turns that buses cannot navigate. I mean, maybe when it was ACTUALLY built, it was so that enemies would have to run up and down these zig-zaggy paths, but I like my buses reasoning better. The cars run from the bus stop at the bottom of the hill all the way to the top of the town, are rotated 180 degrees at the top of the track, and then make their way back down to the bus stop. Oh, and they are red inside.

Anyways, while we were there we saw some Aldo Rossi architecture, which I found quite over bearing and by no means "pretty", but now I can say I've seen some Rossi buildings. It was raining horrendously for most of the time we were there, so we ducked inside a museum that contained a lot of Futurist painting, which was refreshing to look at instead of all the old churches and museums we had already seen.

Our afternoon ended pretty quickly because of the downpour, and the fact that the church we were trying to tour was closed for restoration.
My next post will be about our last and 5th class trip to Florence, where I met my mom and aunt because they came to visit me in Italy!
Ciao!
